The interdisciplinary minor is global in scope — exploring the histories and experiences of communities of 非洲 and 非洲 descent throughout the world, including the 非洲 continent, Afro-Latin American and Caribbean world, 印度洋世界, and the United States.

Our program draws from expertise in the fields of anthropology, 性别研究, 历史, language and literature, music and the performing arts, international studies, 和社会学. 这样做的时候, we address critical questions concerning cultural and intellectual production, 性别, 比赛, 种族, 多样性, 赋权, 全球正义, and systemic violence.
The minor equips students to think critically about our intimately interconnected world. Students will develop the necessary skills to convey and articulate the conditions and experiences of 非洲 societies and communities of the 非洲 Diaspora into spaces that include business and law, 政策, 表演, 研究, 公共话语.
课程
To complete the minor, students must take six courses: five designated courses on 非洲 and 非洲 Studies—2 or 3 on continental Africa and 2 or 3 on Africa America and the 非洲 Diaspora—and AAS 500 Colloquium.
